The good news to begin this blog with is that I sold 2 of my 3 painted feathers entered in the Sidcot Arts Showcase! The feedback about the exhibition was very positive at the North Somerset Arts AGM last month, so hopefully there will be more similar events to look forward to in the future. I am registered to take part in North Somerset Arts Week which will be held in May 2013 and I am really pleased that Puxton Park has allowed myself and Lon to use the Meadows Restaurant as our venue for the event. I am really excited to be taking part for the first time…now I really need to get painting!!
I haven’t posted on my blog for a while as I’m just recovering from a nasty dose of flu. Before it knocked me sideways, I’d had some enjoyable painting days during which I completed an owl painting that I’d begun several months earlier, but not quite finished. Below is a series of photographs that show the development of the painting which is in acrylic on canvas. The owl is ‘Bumble’, one of my favourites to paint. In this painting I have attempted to portray him as he might be in the wild, perched in a tree at night with a hint of moonlight behind him.
I have been working on a new series of feather paintings all depicting hares…watch this space for the next blog where you’ll be able to see more of what I’ve been doing, until then, happy painting,
Mandi 😉
So glad you are feeling better. Congrats on doing so well wiith your work.
Thanks Pam, its good to hear from you! I’ve been working hard (apart from the fortnight of flu) and I’m really looking forward to getting a new body of work ready for Arts Week in May. I hope you’re still enjoying your painting and managing to get around to the Art club every now and then. I don’t think I’m going to make it for the Christmas Dinner this year – I hope you have fun with the others if you go! Take care, love Mandi x
